Getting to Davos

The Davos Tourismus website has alternative information about travel to Davos.

Air Travel

The airport recommended for flights into Switzerland is Zürich Airport. From Zürich it's possible to take various methods of transportation into Davos.

Travel by Car

It takes 2-3 hours to get to Davos by car from Zürich. From Zürich Airport: Take A51 (toll road) to Zürich and look for the road signs to Chur (A3/A13). Take Exit Landquart-Davos and follow the road signs to Davos. For more details or for other starting points try Google maps. You will need a highway sticker to travel on these roads. This costs CHF 40.- and is valid for one year. Stickers are available at the airport and petrol/gas stations. Check with your vehicle hire company to see if the highway sticker is included.

There are several car parking spaces in Davos. The main carpark to be used by delegates is Panorama Parking next to the Vaillant Arena (Ice Stadium). The location of this and other spaces can be found at the back of the Program Volume, now available to download. The fees for carparking are as follows: half an hour is free; one hour is CHF 1.- and 10 hours is CHF 10.-. Free parking is available further from the venue at Parsenn Parking (near the railway station Davos Dorf) and the Jakobshorn Parking (near the railway station Davos Platz). Parking is also free at Davos lake. Your hotel may have its own carpark - be sure to check with your hotel reception.

Travel by Railway

It takes 2.5 hours to get to Davos by train from Zürich. The railway is very reliable and the connections easy to make. The first train goes from Zürich Airport (Flughafen) to Zürich Main Station (Hauptbahnhof or HB). In the Airport follow the Train icons until you reach the airport railway station. Buy your ticket at the counters on the right-hand side. All the operators speak perfect English. Trains bound for Zürich HB leave about every ten to fifteen minutes.

At Zürich HB change to an express train bound for Chur. In Landquart (all trains stop there) change to the Rhaetian Railway to Davos. There is a pedestrian tunnel that joins the platforms, and the train to Davos will most likely be on one of the platforms you access through the tunnel. There are clear boards in the tunnel to tell you the correct platform. This part of the journey is scenic through the mountains.

There are two railway stations in the city of Davos: Davos Dorf and Davos Platz. Please don't get off earlier, e.g. in Davos Wolfgang. Inform yourself in advance whether Davos Dorf or Davos Platz is closer to your hotel (ask the hotel if you're not sure). The Congress Centre is right in between the two. If in doubt, buy your ticket to Davos Platz.

You can search the Railway Timetable for train times and alternative journeys through Switzerland.
